Dirk studied medicine at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and obtained his diploma in 1991.

After working for the Scientific Institute of Public Health (now Sciensano) for 10 years, obtained his PhD in Medical Sciences (PhD) in 2004.

GP in Overijse

Dirk has been a general practitioner in Overijse since 1991. He first worked in a duo practice with his wife Karolien Vantomme.

Since 2016, he has been working in the 'Dokterpraktijk 535' together with Karolien Vantomme, Sam Aerts and Roya Zolfaghari.

GP in the media

Dirk was a weekly guest at De Madammen on Radio 2 from September 2008 to June 2022 where he informed the listeners about health problems and prevention.

As a general practitioner, Dirk is also often asked about his opinion about health problems in newspapers, magazines and other media.
